The mission of “Getting Real About Mental Illness” is to change the cultural mindset toward and the treatment of those with mental illness by providing education and financial resources to First Responders who interact with them and to destigmatize mental illness among the public
Our Vision
Sponsoring and participating in local events to educate the public about local services available
Researching, identifying resources and publicizing innovative and successful training programs that can serve as potential models for local agencies and organizations in the treatment of those with mental illness, especially in crisis situations
Working with media by publicizing events and services pertaining to mental illness and those affected by it
GRAMI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established January 25th, 2022. It was founded by Ms. Adina B. Peyton after her son was shot 16 times following a suicidal standoff with law enforcement on November 17, 2020. Ms. Peyton currently serves as Executive Director of GRAMI.
